One Act Play 2019 Critique

Partington Players One Act Play Festival 2019

Our One Act Play Festival 2019 is well and truly over for another year.

We had a very successful week with societies from all over the North of England taking part.  The standard of all participants was extremely high and everyone who took part created a competitive but friendly atmosphere.

There were 13 entries this year; 8 plays performed by Youth Groups and 5 by Adult Societies.  The plays, particularly by the Youth Section, were thought provoking and challenging.  They were performed sensitively, with great imagination and empathy.

The adjudicator, Carmel Bird, took time out to ensure that all who participated were included in her summing up.  Her positive, thoughtful and constructive comments ensured that all the players, technicians and directors found the experience a good one and took with them some very useful tips and advice, that they can build on for future performances.  It is not an easy task being an adjudicator, so our thanks go to Carmel for her professionalism and expertise.

Sadly, the audiences were not in great numbers, however, those that came left with an excellent impression of the performances they saw, our fabulous theatre and of the numerous volunteers who contributed in any way to the success of the festival week.

A special thanks must go to Stanley Macarenas, who not only stage-managed the festival but who looked after and assisted all the societies throughout the festival in his usual welcoming, friendly and courteous manner.

I would personally like to thank, again, all who helped to pull this event together and made it an enjoyable experience for everyone.

The winners of the awards are listed below.  But if you came to any of the nights, you will know that the real winners were everyone who took part.  Congratulations!!!

So, here’s to next year – the Partington Players 27th One-Act Play Festival.  The dates for your diary are Monday 6th to Saturday 11th July 2020.  We would love to see you there.  Watch this space for more details in the New Year.
