Russia 2010. certificate 12A.
Starring Grigory Dobrygin. Director Aleksei Popogrebsky.
A big hit at the 2010 Berlin Film Festival. The film takes place in a remote research station in the Russian Arctic. A middle-aged meteorologist comes into conflict with his only companion, a young scientist harbouring a terrible secret. A compelling psychological drama and nail-biting survival yarn. Russian language with English subtitles.
‘At the 2010 Berlin festival, Sergei Puskepalis and Grigory Dobrygin rightly shared the prize for best actor, while Pavel Kostomarov’s haunting, evocative and at times breathtaking photography received the Silver Bear for artistic achievement. The film itself went on to win the best film award at last year’s London film festival.’ – The Observer.
Temporary membership for this screening £4.50 (£3.50 concession)
